Sebastian River Medical Center Breaking Ground on August 29, 2016

SEBASTIAN, FL - Sebastian River Medical Center will soon break ground on an approximately $64 million expansion to better serve the needs of the community. The project was announced earlier this year and after months of careful preparation, a ground breaking ceremony will be held on Monday, August 29 at 11:30 a.m. on the west side of the medical center grounds.

Once completed, the project will add nearly 94,000 square feet and more than 20,000 square feet of the existing facility will be renovated. The project will add a 10 room operating suite, comprised of seven surgical suites, two endoscopy rooms and one bronchoscopy procedure room. This will increase the number and scope of procedures that can be performed at the hospital.

Renovations to the existing facility and the addition of a three-story tower will provide 48 additional private patient rooms and ultimately create 200 licensed beds for the hospital. Preparations are being made to ensure continued patient comfort and access for all who come on campus throughout the project.

In addition to the facility expansion, Sebastian River Medical Center has recruited fourteen physicians within the last year across specialties that include pulmonology, cardiology, gastroenterology, gynecology, otolaryngology, orthopedics, neurology, interventional radiology and primary care. The recruitment of new physicians has expanded access to clinical services for the community.

"We are excited that our expansion project is about to begin. Many months of thoughtful planning are coming to fruition and we want to share this occasion with our community," said Kelly Enriquez, CEO of Sebastian River Medical Center. "We consistently explore ways to better serve our employees, physicians and, of course, our patients. This expansion will enhance our ability to continue delivering quality care and maintain our commitment to our community into the future."
