Steward Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center Urges Community to Seek Necessary Medical Care

(Sebastian, Florida, April 20, 2020) - Our communities are currently finding themselves in unique circumstances.  Normal day-to-day activities have changed dramatically, including the ways in which we interact with our physicians and local hospitals.  Many individuals are avoiding physician visits and urgent medical care in light of COVID-19.  "During this time, it is especially important for patients to continue their prescribed medical treatment and seek immediate medical care when the situation arises," states Kirk E. Maes, M.D., orthopedic physician.  "Due to fear, people may be avoiding physician office visits, urgent care visits, and emergency rooms.  It is critical that people take care of themselves.  Medical professionals are finding that those severely affected by COVID-19 have underlining health conditions and these conditions can undermine recovery from the virus.  For those who are afraid to seek treatment, be assured that physician practices, urgent care settings, and hospitals are taking extra steps to ensure the health and safety of their patients and staff."

Seeking treatment for urgent medical situations, like orthopedic injuries, should be sought out immediately.  Steward Orthopedic and Sports Medicine is open to serve the orthopedic needs of our communities with urgent care services and general appointments, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  If a patient is in need of assistance or is concerned, they may call our office from the parking lot and a nurse will come out to assist.  Our office, including our orthopedic urgent care, is located at 13000 Hwy. 1, Suite 5, Sebastian, FL, or you can schedule an appointment by calling 772-581-5881.
